The Premier says his government will decide this summer if British Columbians still do the time change when it’s scheduled to come up this fall.
John Horgan was asked if March 8th will be the last time people in this province spring forward, and couldn’t say yes or no.
“We passed legislation last fall to bring in a Pacific Daylight Time, and we’re intent on going down that road. But we also heard from British Columbians that they felt that having the same time zone as our current neighbours, Washington, Oregon and California, was the best way to go.”
U.S states need congressional approval to pass the same daylight savings legislation.
Horgan says that’s not likely to happen anytime soon with a U.S. federal election coming up.
The campaign to ditch adjusting the clock originated in Kamloops, from Tara Holmes and Bob Dieno.
