The British Columbia Lottery Corporation is throwing its support behind the proposed Kamloops Centre for the Arts downtown.
BCLC Interim President and CEO Greg Moore says the corporation believes it is the right time for what he calls ‘important cultural and community infrastructure.’
“BCLC is a long-time sponsor of the arts, and whole-heartedly supports robust arts programs and facilities in Kamloops,” he said, in a letter of support to the Kamloops Centre for the Arts Society. “Performance and visual arts and associated amenities significantly contribute to communities, making them more diverse and liveable.”
Moore says BCLC has been operating in downtown Kamloops for nearly 35 years, and it shares the view that community infrastructure like a new performing arts centre, is important when it comes to recruiting top talent and retaining existing staff.
“The corporation also believes it will be one of the many users of the facility for events such as larger employee meetings,” Moore said.
This latest letter of support comes one day after a similar letter from the Kamloops Sports Council.
