The spring edition of Barb’s Used Book Sale in Kamloops, set to happen from March 21 to April 5, has been postponed because of COVID-19 concerns.
It comes as the province put a ban on all events with 50 or more people. Prior to that ban, the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra was hoping their twice-annual fundraiser would go ahead as scheduled.
“This crucial fundraiser for the KSO will be remounted at a later date, once administration receives clarity on when it is socially responsible to do so,” said spokesperson Ryan Noakes.
He adds the performance of An Evening with Eleanor Wachtel set for April 3 has now been cancelled, and all tickets have been refunded. The hope is to reschedule it sometime in the fall. Another show, Luminous Voices set for April 11 has also been postponed.
“Out of respect to all the musicians involved, including the KSO Chorus and choral students from the Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music and School District 73 Honour Choir, the Kamloops Symphony is making a commitment to reschedule the concert either in its entirety or in part for a later time,” Noakes added.
“We unfortunately cannot commit to a specific date as of now but are having open discussions with all those involved to determine what might be possible.”
He says ticket holders to the April 11 show will be given options soon as to what they can do with their tickets.
Two performances of A Sense of Wonder on May 2 & 3, in Kamloops and Salmon Arm are currently on hold, and ticket sales have been suspended.
“Our priority remains the health of all our patrons, artists, crew, and stakeholders, and we urge everyone to take precautions in monitoring their well being,” said Noakes.
