In a move to curb the spread of COVID-19, BC Parks is suspending camping in all campgrounds until the end of April, while also curtailing access to trails and other facilities.
However, people will still be able to hike although visitor centres, day-use sites, and washrooms will also be closed to the public.
Some day-use services will be available in a few parks, including Wells Gray Provincial Park, Cypress Provincial Park, and Mount Seymour Provincial Park. There may be areas and parking lots that are closed off, as necessary.
“Nature provides the perfect environment to promote health and well-being,” said Environment Minister, George Heyman. “We are following the advice of the provincial health officer to help people get outside, while ensuring they are following directions and guidance to stay healthy.
“We look forward to a time when we can return to full operations at our provincial parks.”
Anyone who had a reservation at a BC Parks site will be automatically refunded. The province says provincial park closures are being implemented on a case-by-case basis, with changes to status or services available online.
