Speaking on NL Newsday, Dan Albas says its easy to announce things, but notes its harder to implement things and make changes.
“So some of the concerns I’ve been hearing is will this fiscal package that was unveiled is will it be fast? Will it be responsive to the people who need it? And lastly will it act as a bridge until the economy normalizes?” Albas said.
He says government needs to work together for Canadians during this pandemic, which is what the Opposition Conservatives will be hoping to get as reassurances from the Liberals.
“So everything that we do right now in Parliament has to be with the goal of helping Canadians in this difficult time,” Albas added.
“The opposition does have a unique role where we do get to ask constructive questions just to make sure that if money is going out the door, it is going to people who need it right away.”
At a press conference on Monday, Government House Leader Pablo Rodriguez said about 32 Members of Parliament are expected to be in Ottawa, believed to be 14 Liberal MPs, 11 Conservatives, three Bloc Quebecois members, three NDP MPs, and one Green MP.
“We’re going to have to listen to non-partisan public servants like the Public Health Officers in every province and we need to work until we can get some resolve on this case of COVID-19,” added Albas.
