B.C.’s provincial health officer says there is guidance that has been provided to work camps in this province amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Bonnie Henry says WorkSafeBC has been working with the province to ensure safety as well in work camps.
“Those work camps are places where people are living and working. And we have given direction about the measures that need to be in place to protect people in those environments. So it’s around cleaning, it’s around monitoring, it’s around ensuring there is space available. And that stricter measures are put in place to reduce the crowding and moving-together or people. So spacing people out while eating meals, things like that.”
Near Kamloops, five work camps are still expected to be established later this year by Trans Mountain when construction starts on its pipeline expansion.
The Crown corporation has told NL News it plans to abide by guidelines from government.
