Hoarding, particularly stuff we don’t really need, is becoming a real problem amongst the people that actually need those items.
The Canadian Home Builders Association for the Central Interior, Vice President Jere Lorenz was on the NL Morning News and said one very important item is disappearing, the N-95 face mask. “Well, most construction companies have had used the mask because obviously they’re the better mask to use for dust or when you’re doing any concrete work or drywall dust or whatever. So, most construction places have them but obviously the supply is becoming dwindling and less and less.”
Lorenz said the alternative isn’t cutting it. “Now it’s becoming harder to find these better construction masks that most of us are used to using. The dust masks that are just the straight cloth ones don’t do much.”
“The N-95 mask, what most builder and renovators use are starting to dwindle up but the supplies hopefully will come back again that we can continue buying the same quality of mask and gloves and all that stuff that everybody uses. Hand sanitizer, obviously it’s hit and miss, it depends where you supplier is and where you can get it from.”
Lornez says one of the several things the industry is doing to help stop the spread of the virus is limiting the number of workers and contractors on site to one person per floor.
