The BC Teachers Federation has comes to terms on a tentative agreement with its employer.
In a Twitter statement it says “After several days of marathon negotiation sessions this week, a tentative agreement between the BCTF and its employer, BC Public School Employers’ Association, has been reached. Our Executive Committee is recommending the deal to the membership. An email with more info is on its way to members now.”
In an statement to members it reads “Member across BC will see salary improvement greater than in previous rounds, and we ensured that the restored collective agreement language was protected…. The 2 per cent increases in each of the three years of the deal include retroactive pay back to July 1, 2019.”
The new collective agreement also includes Cultural Leave for aboriginal members, and a strengthening of the employment equity for aboriginal educators.
The BCTF says “the tentative agreement will be voted on by the entire membership for ratification. Given the current circumstances with COVID-19, our ratification vote will be different this time around and we are already working on what that will look like. We will give updates as we have them”
The deal was reached at 2:00 a.m. this morning.
