An employee at Sun Peaks Resort who has returned home to Australia has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement, the resort says the person was a Sports School Instructor who lived at the Black Bear Lodge, and last worked on March 16. This unidentified employee left for Australia on March 19 and tested positive this past Tuesday, March 24.
It is not clear where this person contracted the virus, although Resort Chief Marketing Officer Aidan Kelly said they believe the employee was tested upon arrival in Australia.
“We feel it is important to share these details as part of our role in community well-being,” said the resort statement. “Please take any necessary precautionary measures you see fit.”
It is the second known COVID-19 case related to Sun Peaks after a doctor at the medical centre tested positive last weekend.
