There are 67 new cases of COVID-19 for a total of 792 cases in the province.
Eight of these new cases are across Interior Health, for a total of 70 cases. As well, there are two more deaths announced by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, bringing the total to 16 deaths.
“In the past few days, our upward path has been less severe than other places, but we continue to see steady increases in community transmission cases and continue to be concerned about outbreaks, which could quickly grow and challenge our pandemic response,” she said.
“The evidence is clear – with every person in British Columbia 100 per cent committed to physical distancing, we can flatten the curve. Over the next two weeks we must be united in this one goal.”
Henry says there are 73 people in hospital, while noting that 275 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
As well, farmers markets in B.C. can only sell food and no other products at this time, as Dr. Henry says she doesn’t want these places to be areas where people gather.
“We are heartened that, with the support of funding from the provincial government, many markets are shifting to an online model,” she added.
Earlier today, the province said restrictions like social distancing has nearly cut the COVID-19 case rate in the province in half.
