A man has been charged after four people were stabbed at a North Shore house party on Saturday night, killing one person.
Michael Wayne Palmer, 44, faces one charge of murder and three counts of attempted murder, after the incident that left one person dead at a party in an apartment on the North Shore.
With courts largely closed down in Kamloops, Palmer will appear in Kelowna Court on April 6.
Kamloops RCMP were called at about 11:30 p.m. to the apartment unit in the 200-block of Carson Crescent after reports of a stabbing.
A 59-year-old man was found dead at the scene, while a 62-year-old man and 58-year-old man were taken to hospital in grave condition. A 21-year-old man was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A motive for the attack remains unclear, but police say the suspect and victims knew each other.
Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay tells NL News that no one involved was known to police and says the homicide was not connected to the drug trade.
“This is best described as a random, unfortunate and isolated incident that has no nexus to greater criminal trends in our community,” Pillay says.
