The grassfire burning north of Cache Creek, next to Highway 97, is being held according to the BC Wildfire Service.
Fire Information Officer Taylor MacDonald says the fire is estimated to be 0.2 hectares in size.
UPDATE: 5:30 p.m.
The BC Wildfire Service says it is responding to a grassfire burning next to Highway 97 north of Cache Creek.
The blaze is considered to be out-of-control and is burning about 15 kilometres north of Cache Creek, between Scottie Creek Road and Loon Lake Road.
The BCWS has four personnel responding, who were not yet on site as of just after 5 p.m.
It’s not clear how the fire started, and the size of the fire is also not known.
Photos show smoke and charred grass along Highway 97.
This is the second fire in as many days in the Kamloops area that provincial firefighters have responded to. A five-hectare fire near Chase that started yesterday, called the Chief Jules Way wildfire, is now being held.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a fire approximately 15 kms NW of #CacheCreek, adjacent to #BCHwy97. The wildfire is currently classified as Out of Control and four BC Wildfire Service personnel are responding. Further updates will be provided when crews arrive on site.
