Kamloops Mayor Ken Christian says city parks remain open as long as people can comply with Provincial Health Officer Dr Bonnie Henry’s orders about physical distancing.
“We have had fully 192,000 visits to our nature parks so far this year and they’re an important part of people getting out and getting some exercise. But, do it the right way. Stay away from other people, give up the right of way on the trails and when you get back, look for ticks.”
Christian says he has heard a number of complaints about the city’s skate parks. “Seems to be too much congregation at our skate parks. So we are going to staff them and limit the number of people who can access them just like they do at Shoppers Drug Mart or anywhere else. So be prepared for that.”
Christian says this Easter is going to be one to remember, but let’s remember it as the year we did what the Health Authority asked of us in order to bend the curve.
