The 102nd edition of the Falkland Stampede has been postponed to later this summer because of COVID-19.
Organizers say the event – usually held over May long weekend – will now be held from August 28 to August 30.
“August is the new May,” said Stampede organizers in a facebook post. “This change brings something new to Falkland, a rodeo under the lights.”
On August 28, there will an evening rodeo performance with a dance to follow. Events on Saturday and Sunday will include daytime performances along with the traditional Sunday parade.
“More details [will] come and we look forward to seeing all of our fans, sponsors, and contestants in August,” added the facebook post.
The Stampede usually attracts thousands of visitors to Falkland as is a major fundraiser for the community.
