School District 73 had 284 special education files audited last month.
Those files equal more than $5 million in revenue and Board Chair Kathleen Karpuk says it passed with flying colours. “We were told that our record keeping is amazing and a real shout to our staff because with the fire that happened this fall at Parkcrest, we did lose some files for some of our students there. We were able to recreate those files and that was part of our success.”
“I have to say that this has not been a typical year for our district and our staff have just shown what outstanding individuals they all are from our administrators, our support workers, our teachers.”
The audit resulted in about 42 thousand dollars of adjustments which equals less than 1% of the reviewed sample size.
