Kamloops city staff say they are working with Trans Mountain to prepare for a chance of spring flooding at Noble Creek.
The creek blew its banks in 2017 during the spring snow melt, and the city’s utility services manager Greg Wightman says crews are trying to stay ahead what could happen this spring.
“So we’ve reached out, we’ve already connected with those folks to say hey, we’ve got a heavy snowpack this year, we’ve got a possibility of something like this reoccurring. We’ve got their contacts, we’ll be able to get information to them as quickly as possible. They’ve also done an awful lot of work to re-stabilize the creek bank to keep the creek within its channel, so things hopefully will be a little better out there this year.”
Trans Mountain’s pipeline through Westsyde crosses under part of Noble Creek.
