Power is back on in Dallas and crews continue to respond to a grass fire, after a crash into a power pole apparently led to those events.
Power went out just after 12:30 p.m. for 1,235 BC Hydro customers in Dallas, Valleyview and Monte Creek, and the power was back about two hours later.
According to a witness, the grass fire off of Dallas Drive near Lafarge Road was out at about 1:30 p.m.
It reportedly happened just outside of eastern city limits, and therefore outside of the response area for the Kamloops Fire Rescue.
BC Wildfire Service spokesperson Taylor MacDonald says the latest information available says that crews are battling an out-of-control fire at the scene which is 0.8 hectares in size.
An official cause of the power outage and the grass fire has not been provided, but reports say those events started after a vehicle crashed into a power pole early this afternoon. It’s also unclear if anyone was injured.
