The province is advising about rising water levels in the North Thompson River around McLure, Barriere and Clearwater.
The BC River Forecast Centre says the Cariboo Mountains could see 10-30 millimetres of rain today which would impact streams that lead into the North Thompson River.
The high stream flow advisory says the North Thompson “may see significant river rises today and into tomorrow if heavier showers materialize in watersheds.”
Past today, the advisory also says rising temperatures in the southern Interior will lead to higher-elevation snow melting faster into rivers and streams.
A high stream flow advisory is now in place for parts of the Thompson Plateau near Cache Creek, the Nicola Valley, the Shuswap, the North Okanagan and now the North Thompson.
A higher-risk “flood watch” is in place for parts of the Fraser Canyon including Lillooet and Lytton, but that flood watch is down compared to a flood warning that was in place last week.
Cache Creek lifted a local state of emergency yesterday, although the Bonaparte River is still running at a 10-20-year high between Cache Creek and Ashcroft.
