Health officials are reporting 33 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths in B.C. today.
There are now 2,288 cases that have been reported in the province, and the virus has killed 126 people here.
None of those new cases are in Interior Health, which still has seen 179 total cases.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry spoke more about plans to gradually restore part of the economy which the Premier announced yesterday, and she says it has to be a slow and thoughtful reset.
“We do not want to undo all that we have done. And even as we shift into this next phase, not everyone will be ready to increase their social connection or to restart their businesses at the same time. Just because it’s allowed, doesn’t mean everyone must or should change what they’re doing now,” she says.
“I know some people are looking for very clear directions and rules that everybody must follow. But we recognize that everybody’s circumstance is unique. We all have our own experiences of our households and our families that we need to keep in mind. Our health, our work, the people in our physical distancing bubble determine our personal approach to the next phase.”
Henry says if you live with a senior, someone with cancer or someone waiting for surgery, you should consider maintaining your social circle as it is now.
