After the province announced its gradual reopening plan, the City of Kamloops has no timeline yet to reopen public facilities.
CAO David Trawin says the city is still waiting for clear direction from the province on how to proceed.
“We’re waiting for WorkSafeBC to come up with some guidelines in terms of what we need to do and the timeline for bringing employees back to work who are working from home. In terms of facilities, we haven’t talked about that. We will be analyzing that, and our next Emergency Operations Centre meeting is Tuesday morning,” Trawin tells NL News.
“I’d be skeptical if there’s going to be any concrete direction coming out of that meeting. We’ll talk about a game plan about how we would open areas that we can reopen. Until we have that conversation and maybe get a little more guidelines from WorkSafe and, again, the province, it’s just kind of a wait-and-see type of thing.
Trawin says it is positive news that we can hopefully slowly move towards opening some facilities, based on dialogue from Premier John Horgan on reopening the economy.
Public facilities in Kamloops have been closed since March 17 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
