ORIGINAL – Kamloops firefighters are responding to a fire near the Tolko mill at Heffley Creek.
The fire is believed to have started after a slash pile got out of control, but KFR Assistant Fire Chief Steve Robinson says its too soon to know for certain.
“Right now [the fire] is 40 metres by 40 metres [in size]. We have three sides of that fire contained [as of 2:45 p.m.],” he said. “We are very comfortable with the status of it right now.”
He tells NL News that a fire investigator will be heading to the scene to determine a cause.
“We have two engines and one bush truck and one water tender responding right now,” Robinson added. “That is a fairly standard response.”
