Mounties say a small fire in a house in Valleyview earlier this week is suspected to have been an attempted arson.
The blaze was reported on Tuesday just after 11 a.m., at the home in the 2500-block of Thompson Drive.
Kamloops Fire Rescue Capt. Wade Lindoff says there was a full response, with 14 firefighters.
“They found black smoke exiting through an open door, an open sliding door. It was a lower-floor fire. When they went inside, they found the fire was actually out. It had been extinguished from a failed water line, a burst water pipe.”
When speaking to NL News on Wednesday morning, Lindoff says there was no word on what caused the fire and whether it was suspicious.
Today, Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Kelly Butler tells NL News police had been called back to the fire, after evidence came up that indicated it was an attempted arson. She says there was a man inside the home when the fire happened who was not hurt in the incident.
Butler says police are hoping to have more information gathered either tonight or tomorrow to put out a news release.
She says police were at the home yesterday but were no longer on scene today.
