There may be no Ribfest at Riverside Park in Kamloops this summer but organizers are making it possible to have a rib fest in your own back yard.
“We’re going to try and honour those people in the community by doing that, so it should be a lot of fun with us wanting to keep the spirit of Ribfest alive and I think that will give us the opportunity to do it,” said organizer Bryce Herman, while speaking on the NL Morning News.
Ribfest is probably the biggest annual event in Kamloops and like all of the other summer events, the plug was pulled on it with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It gave us the impetus to decide that we need to do something around Ribfest and so we’re running a raffle again this year but a little higher intensity than we’re done in the past,” Herman said, noting it inspired the idea on how they could give away 15 cases of ribs.
“We’re going to be looking at ways that you’ve supported people in the community and tell us a great story and we’ll be selecting 15 of the top stories of how you help people through COVID-19 and through this pandemic.”
Herman also said the annual raffle will have more prizes than ever before. For tickets and information on how you can gett in on the rib giveaway, the Kamloops Ribfest website has all the details.
