A 51-year-old man from Vanderhoof was killed in a crash with a semi-truck yesterday near Ashcroft, on Highway 97C.
RCMP say the crash happened near Barnes Lake Road just before 4 p.m., and the driver killed was in a pickup truck hauling a camper.
Mounties say the semi-truck, from Idaho, was driving westbound and going downhill when it slid sideways across the highway before hitting the pickup truck.
The pickup truck driver died at the scene, and his wife was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and she has now been released. The semi-truck driver was not hurt.
It was raining at the time of the crash, and Mounties say they believe the semi-truck driver was driving too fast for conditions.
Highway 97C was closed for about 12 hours after the crash.
Anyone with information on the crash is being asked to call Central Interior Traffic Services at 250-378-4262.
