The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce is doing another Pulse Check survey to look at the climate of businesses in the city.
This is the fourth questionnaire of it’s kind and while she was on the NL Morning News, Chamber Executive Director Acacia Pangilinan stressed the importance of the survey. “The Pulse Check surveys are absolutely critical for us at the the Kamloops Chamber for us to gather business insight and the BC Mindreader platform that we use gives business an unprecedented voice that it it heard by government. So, we’re asking every Kamloops business to share their important insight.”
As for any sort of trending Pangilinan has seen in the first three surveys she says. “Well we’re really trying to manage and understand the impacts of the pandemic so the questions have been around, have you been accessing the government support? How many employees have you laid off? What are your plans moving forward?”
“A lot of these same questions are being asked again because we’re trying to monitor what the impacts are over time but what we’re also seeing in this survey is we’re asking questions about when does the business community want the economic recovery plan? What happens when the supports have stopped? And what supports would be helpful moving forward?”
We’re trying to understand from the business community what they need to best navigate the road to recovery.”
When asked if she thought the results of this one would be an improvement from the first three, Pangilinan said “Definitely. I think we’re starting to see a lot of that cautious optimism where people are moving forward in a safe way and really hearing the announcements of moving into different phases adds to that level of public confidence which also helps people go out and be consumers.”
“So yes, I think we’re moving in a positive direction.”
