It’s a big week for Kamloops City Council next week as they will unveil a revised budget and have a Committee of the Whole meeting.
Councillor Sadie Hunter was on the NL Morning News and said the Committee of the Whole will look at updating several bylaws as well as the city’s Climate Action report.
“Council will be discussing some potential action items and recommendations going forward,” she said. “So, the goal of this report is to look at how we can, as a city, reduce our greenhouse reductions inline with the global goal of keeping the temperature increase to one point five degrees.”
She added, “a fairly lengthy conversation I would think is the overall bylaw update looking at zoning and various things to do with businesses and parking and home base businesses. It’s an overhaul to align all of the bylaws with the KamPlan and it hasn’t been looked in a lot of detail since 2001.”
The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce will be among the many groups keeping a close watch on the revised budget that will be presented on Tuesday. The budget was passed in March but COVID-19 has led to the need to make changes.
The meeting at the Sandman Centre will also be the first time that council has met face to face since the pandemic hit in March. Hunter says her colleagues are looking forward to being in the same room together.
