The city of Salmon Arm wants people to wear a mask.
In a statement, Mayor Alan Harrison says it is critical for people to follow public health orders and to protect themselves, their loved ones, and the community from the spread of COVID-19.
“That is why [Salmon Arm City Council] strongly encourages residents and visitors to our community to wear a face covering or non-medical mask in all indoor public settings where two metres (six feet) of separation cannot be maintained,” Harrison said.
Echoing the words of Dr. Bonnie Henry, he notes that while masks are an additional measure that can protect people from the virus, it does not replace things like regular hand washing, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, and maintaining a two-metre distance from others, as well as staying home if you feel sick.
“We all need to continue working together to prevent transmission,” Harrison added. “Following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s lead, please continue to be kind to each other, in helping keep our community safe.”
