Kamloops RCMP have a 27-year-old man in custody after he brandished a knife and was acting erratically inside a house on Mountainview Place in Westsyde.
It happened around 9 p.m. last night, but police say there were no injuries as everyone else inside the house were able to get out, leaving the man alone inside the house. Officers say he was taken into custody without incident, after they made contact with him outside in his backyard.
“Clearly, these are very serious and dangerous types of events, and we can’t afford to take any chances” Staff Sgt. Mat van Laer said, in a release. “We want to thank the residents of the area that complied with all the safety measures requested by our responding members.”
No further details were released, but van Laer says there are no more public safety concerns for the area.
