The BC Wildfire Service had to call RCMP yesterday when boaters were in the way of water bombers on Shuswap Lake.
Fire information officer Taylor MacDonald says that was as water bombers were trying to hit the Marble Point wildfire, burning north of Sicamous.
“So today we don’t have any aerial resources on that fire at this point. They are available if they are required. It is just a good reminder to everyone to be cautious while they’re in the area. On the water as well as on the land,” MacDonald says.
“Wildfires are active work sites for our personnel. So we just need people to remain cautious, so that we’re able to safely action the wildfire.”
The Marble Point fire is now being held at 1.8 hectares in size, and its cause remains unknown.
NL News has reached out to the Southeast District RCMP for details on its response.
