A 24-year-old Merritt man has been charged after children were touched inappropriately at a local RV Park during the long weekend.
Mounties were called to the Claybanks RV Park in the 1300-block of Voght Street on Sunday, to reports of a man who was intoxicated and touching children.
An officer spoke with children who were affected and a suspect was arrested without incident close to the park.
Skylar McLeod now faces several charges, including sexual interference, assault, failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with a prohibition regarding children.
McLeod has a criminal record dating back to 2016 and has a court condition to not have any contact with children under the age of 16. He is in custody and has a court appearance in Kamloops scheduled for tomorrow.
Merritt RCMP are asking anyone who may have information about Sunday’s incident to contact the detachment, if they haven’t already.
