Forty-seven new cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia, according to health officials, including one epi-linked case.
Seven of those new cases are in the Interior Health Authority bringing the total up to 384 in the health authority and 3,834 in the province.
Cases in the Fraser Health Authority went up by 26, followed by 13 in the Vancouver Coastal Health area. There was also one new case in a person who lives outside of Canada.
Active cases have gone up by 32 since yesterday to 351, with nine people in hospital, six in intensive care. There were no new deaths to report, leaving the province’s total at 195.
“There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks or new community outbreaks. However, there continues to be community exposure events throughout the province and on flights into and out of British Columbia,” a statement from the Ministry of Health said.
“Alerts are posted on the BC Centre for Disease Control‘s and on health authorities’ websites, providing details on where the potential exposure occurred and what actions you need to take – whether you need to immediately self-isolate, or monitor for symptoms.”
Health officials say the virus remains in B.C. communities, noting with that comes the anxiety and stress to go with increased isolation and the need to take precautions.
“Younger people, in particular, may not fully understand why many of the activities they normally enjoy are no longer available, look different and require us to interact with each other in new ways,” added the statement.
“We remind people to take the time to check in with your friends, family and neighbours, young and old, to provide a mental health boost and to ensure they have the support we all need – especially for those who may be self-isolating.”
People who need help are urged to reach out for help, whether its the Kids Help Phone or VictimLinkBC for people experiencing family or other violence.
As of Wednesday, 3,288 cases are considered to have fully recovered, an increase of 15 since yesterday.
