The Village of Ashcroft wants people in Kamloops to make a day trip and explore the community.

Speaking on the NL Morning News, Mayor Barbara Roden says there’s a lot of reasons for people in Kamloops to make a day in Gold Country.

“Go to our pool, our museum, our parks, our funky shops and restaurants, and visit places like Desert Hills Ranch. Just come and spend a day here in Ashcroft and see what we’ve got going on here,” Roden says.

“It kills me when I see people from Kamloops who come here and say ‘I’ve lived in Kamloops for 27 years and this is my first visit to Ashcroft.’ What took you so long? We’re a great place, come out and say hello.”

The village has started a committee with 10 members for promoting economic development, which is made up mostly of local business owners.
