Divers with the BC RCMP Underwater Recovery Team were deployed to Logan Lake today – to help find evidence related to a large, intentional chemical spill.
On Monday, Logan Lake RCMP say they got a report of mischief at the Logan Lake Rec Centre – and upon arrival, found that over 1,000 litres of yellow road marking paint had been spilled.
“Our investigators believe that the yellow paint, which was intended for the maintenance of local roadways and highways, was intentionally drained from a drum stored on the back of a flat-deck truck,” said Southeast District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, noting the damage is estimated to be over $10,000.
A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident.
O’Donaghey says the dive team recovered items believed to be connected to the crime which was allegedly discarded by the suspect, though what was recovered has not been made public.
“The investigation remains ongoing at this time, the full findings of which will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for charge assessment,” he noted.
Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact the Logan Lake RCMP at 250-523-6222.
