RCMP say they have one person is custody after an incident in the Adams Lake area today that saw the Southeast District’s Emergency Response Team called out as well.
E-Division Spokesperson Cpl. Chris Manseau says Chase RCMP were first called to the area of Holding Road around midnight. He didn’t have many details but says there were reports that a person who had outstanding warrants may have had access to firearms.
“The situation is currently over but the investigation will take some time,” he said. “So over the next couple of days, it is possible that a higher than normal police presence in that area may be noted. At this point, there is no risk to the public and we don’t think that anybody should have any concerns.”
The Adams Lake Ferry and some roads in the area were closed for some time. Witnesses tell NL News there was a potential shooting of some sort in the area between the ferry and the Adams Lake Lumber mill, and the road between those two locations is still closed at this time.
More information is expected to be released once it is available. Manseau is asking anyone who has any information about the incident to contact the Chase RCMP.
