Masks will be mandatory in indoor areas of Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc where people are unable to stay apart such as in hallways, staircases, or in shared vehicles.
Chief Roseanne Casimir says the move comes in light of an impending second wave of COVID-19.
“The use of face coverings have shown to significantly reduce the transmission and exposure of the virus,” she said in a video update. “Anyone visiting TteS offices like couriers, band members or staff from other buildings must complete a contact tracing form. We continue to be committed to upholding the safety of all our staff and all those who visit.”
Casimir says Tk’emlúps has been stockpiling cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment in anticipation of this second wave.
“These cases are a reminder of the need to continue to be diligent in this time to protect our community and their loved ones,” she added.
“Like the province has stated, keeping a safe physical distance, visiting from afar, using our layers of protection and always remembering our safety basics is how we show we care.”
