
B.C. health officials are reporting 102 new COVID-19 cases today, one of which was epi-linked for a total of 9,841 cases in the province.
Eight of those new cases were in the Interior Health Authority which has now had 556 cases of the virus, 25 of which are active, with two people in hospital. As in recent days, the majority of new cases – 90 – was in the Lower Mainland.
There are now 71 people in hospital, up by five from yesterday, with 16 people still in ICU. There were also two new deaths reported today taking the death toll to 244 people.
“People are doing the right thing and, as evidenced by the latest modelling data, individual actions are making a difference for all of us to stay safe and strong in the face of COVID-19,” said a statement from Dr. Bonnie Henry.
“Public health measures are a part of our ‘new normal.’ As a result, we are starting to flatten our curve once again.”
There are now 1,384 active cases of COVID-19 in the province – up by 31 from yesterday, with 3,089 people being actively monitored by public health teams as a result of exposure to a known cases.
As it stands, there are 8,184 people who tested positive for COVID-19 – about 83 per cent of the total – that are considered to have recovered.
