Kamloops RCMP arrested five people yesterday after Trans Mountain crews were blocked from doing work, along Mission Flats Road.
Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says a 69-year-old man and two women, aged 44 and 57, were arrested for blocking work trucks, with one woman tying herself to a gate with a zap strap.
“Security staff advised the group of the court-ordered injunction in effect, confirming the demonstration was interfering with their work. Officers read the BC Supreme Court injunction to the three individuals who remained at the gate and were arrested for allegedly being in civil contempt of the Court Order.”
At the same time, Saunderson says a group of demonstrators were blocking a work site on the south main slope, below Kenna Cartwright Park. She says a 43-year-old woman was arrested who refused to get off a bulldozer.
All four of those people now face charges.
Meanwhile, a fifth person was arrested for destroyed survey stakes in the ground. A 32-year-old woman was released without charges.
