The Premier is not able to say yes or no about whether the B.C. Legislature will reconvene before Christmas.
John Horgan says he hopes a cabinet will be sworn in within two weeks and that the Legislature can sit in December, but he says it’s not a foregone conclusion that will happen.
“There is a timeline I have, but I might not meet it. We do hope to bring the legislature back before Christmas, but we have, with the increase of cases in the past 10 days or so, that has challenged our ability to bring people together in Victoria for swearing in,” Horgan says.
“We have 23 new members of my caucus and I think there’s a couple of new Liberal members as well. Signing in and becoming MLAs, that has to happen, and then we have to swear in cabinet. So I’m hopeful we can get that addressed in the next two weeks and then be in the Legislature in December. But I can’t be any more specific than that.”
The NDP will be looking to pass additional pandemic spending, including a campaign promise of $1,000 for families and $500 for individuals.
