The President of the Kamloops Legion is disappointed that the local branch will not be able to open on Remembrance Day this Wednesday.
Daniel Martin says it has been asked by BC Command that because of COVID-19 it is recommended that all of the branches across the province be closed.
“Just coming down from BC Command we received a memo that shows and tells us that unfortunately because of the events of COVID-19 going on in the region and all over BC that it is recommended and also been told by BC Command that all the branches across BC will be closed on November 11.”
“The celebration at the cenotaph for us in Kamloops will still go ahead, the public still cannot attend because due to COVID we are limited to 50 people. But after the ceremony we have to stress enough that the legion itself will not be open.”
Martin says the news will be upsetting for many people, but it has to follow the guidelines that have been set forward by the provincial health officer and BC Command.
