One person is in custody after a violent home invasion in 100 Mile House on the weekend.
North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says it happened early Sunday morning, just before 3 a.m., in an apartment in the 500-block of Cedar Avenue.
“It was reported two men had broken into the apartment and assaulted a man, using a blunt object and firing what was believed to be a BB gun or pellet gun, causing some injury to the man,” Saunderson says.
“The two suspects fled the area. And all parties are known to each other, and police believe this to be targeted and connected to perhaps the drug trade.”
The victim is a 41-year-old man who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital and has cooperated with police.
Saunderson says one of the suspects was arrested later in the day in Williams Lake, but she says police are still looking for the second.
The second suspect is described as Indigenous, six-foot-two with a slim build and dark skin, and police say he was wearing jeans, a black hoodie and a baseball cap.
Anyone with information is asked to call 100 Mile House RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
