Salmon Arm RCMP say they arrested one man with outstanding warrants on Monday which helped solved a series of break and enters.
Officers were called around 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, to a break-and-enter in the 2600-block of Eagle Bay Road. Police say as they were investigating they followed tracks away from the property and found two more properties that were broken into.
“As front line officers approached the last residence which was also broken into a male, who is known to police, ran from the property with break and enter tools in hand,” said Staff Sgt. Scott West. “The officers gave chase and the foot pursuit ended with a suspect in custody for the three break-ins as well as possession of break and enter instruments and driving while prohibited.”
Police say the suspect had been driving a vehicle which rolled over in a ditch in the area. Further investigation, they note, revealed that the suspect had been on the run for months as he had outstanding arrest warrants for other criminal offences.
“In this one arrest the investigators were able to solve three break and enter investigations and get some property back to the owners of the houses,” West said. “The investigators also concluded the collision file along with closing off a number of outstanding arrest warrants.”
