The Chief of Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc is reminding all band members to keep up the fight against rising COVID-19 infections in the Interior and across the province.
Rosanne Casimir says that includes wearing a mask in indoor public places, sticking to your household only, and limiting non essential travel both within B.C. and to other provinces.
“We need everyone’s help to slow down the spread of the virus,” she said. “Qwemtsin Health Society has the ability to complete contact tracing at the local level which means that we can uphold our communities health and safety a lot quicker.”
The restrictions announced last Thursday by Provincial Health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, will be in place until at least Dec. 7, though it could be extended further.
“The protective measures that work best is when we all are using them all the time,” added Casimir. “We have survived pandemics in the past and our communities know what it means to be resilient…Do not let your guards down.”
In light of new COVID-19 restrictions, a by-election on Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc set for Nov. 28 has been postponed.
The city of Kamloops has also made a number of changes to its own COVID-19 rules in light of the sweeping restrictions put in place by Dr. Bonnie Henry.
