The city of Salmon Arm has had its first exposure of COVID-19 in a school.
In a letter posted online, Salmon Arm Secondary Principal Rob Cadden says a member of the school community’s Sullivan campus tested positive for the virus.
“They are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams,” he said.
Interior Health says the potential exposure was on Nov. 17 and 18. Cadden adds School District 83 has notified all of the people who need to self-isolate or self-monitor for symptoms at this time.
“If you have not been contacted by Interior Health or the school, you have not been identified as being potentially exposed,” Cadden added.
He says the school district will continue to enforce its strict-school based safety protocols including the use of masks in hallways and common areas and while on buses, the use of learning cohorts and school zones and other physical distancing requirements.
“We appreciate your continued patience and support as we all navigate our way through the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Cadden.
