Chase RCMP say two impaired drivers were taken off the road in a span on two days last week.
The first incident was last Thursday, Nov. 19, when a Chase RCMP officer spotted a black Lincoln Navigator run a stop sign and then stop in the middle of an intersection around 9 p.m..
“The vehicle turned without signalling and proceeded into the oncoming lane of travel. Police initiated a traffic stop and during the conversation with the driver, police noted an odour of alcohol on his breath,” Sgt. Barry Kennedy said, in a statement.
Kennedy says the driver, a 49-year-old Alberta man was given a 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30-days.
The next day, Nov. 20, Kennedy says an officer noticed a vehicle driving the wrong way down a one-way street around 10:20 p.m.
“A breath sample was obtained from the 60-year-old female driver – a resident of Chase. The breath sample produced a ‘Fail’ reading on the Alcohol Screening Device, indicating the driver was impaired by alcohol,” Kennedy added.
This driver too was given a 90-day driving prohibition while her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
