The RIH Foundation surpassed its goal of $15,000 during yesterday’s Toys For Kids campaign, in partnership with Radio NL sister station, K97.5.
While there was no sit down breakfast like in year’s past, the Foundation’s Director of Annual Giving Jenna Vanderburgh says Kamloopsians helped raise about $18,500 yesterday.
“So a portion of this came in through online giving as well as to our office and many of the wonderful clubs and then of course we had the incredible support of Warner Rentals,” she said. “He actually tripled the donations up to $10,000 so that brings us to $18,500 all in support of the pediatrics department at RIH.”
Vanderburgh says the money will help buy a pediatric VeinViewer – a device that uses light to find a vein in children when inserting needles.
And she adds she is also grateful to the many businesses that stepped up to collected toy donations which will be going to Christmas Amalgamated.
