An update from police after a moving truck with materials for a drug lab was found abandoned at a Cache Creek motel last week.
Southeast District RCMP say the truck was being used to move equipment that was “consistent with a fentanyl drug production operation.”
Spokesperson Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says five firearms were seized from the truck, which he says were “heavily corroded” from drug-making chemicals. He says police believed they seized two sawed-off shotguns, an AR15 a carbine C8 and an AK47. Ammunition was also seized from the vehicle.
The federal RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team, known as CLEAR, was called to Cache Creek last week from Surrey after the van was reported as abandoned.
It remains unclear who the van may have belonged to, and it’s also unclear if police have any suspects in the investigation.
