Oh deer! Kamloops RCMP received a wild call for service over the weekend at a home in Westsyde.
On Saturday, police say a deer broke into a home through a dog door, in the 900-block of Pine Springs Road.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says the creature was smashing and thrashing, saying it jumped at a fireplace and then a window, trying to get out, breaking a TV and other items in the process.
She says police covered the deer’s head with a blanket and held it down, put it on a rug, and slid it out the door.
“In this case, police were able to safely help the deer out, preventing any further harm from occurring to the animal or the house,” Evelyn says.
She says the deer steered clear of any injuries, apart from a small cut on its mouth when it went in through the dog door.
