A Kamloops Mountie was assaulted early this morning while responding to a 911 call that was later abandoned.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were responded to a report of a woman being assaulted in the 600-block of Columbia Street West, just after 1:15 a.m. today.
When police arrived at the scene, Evelyn says someone there told police they were assaulted.
The woman who called police was intoxicated and not cooperating, and Evelyn says police became concerned for her wellbeing.
She was arrested for being intoxicated in public, Evelyn says, adding the woman punched and kicked an officer while resisting arrest.
The suspect was held in custody and released with a court date after sobering up.
Assault charges are now being considered against the suspect.
