
B.C. saw an average of just under 500 new COVID-19 cases per day over the past weekend.
There were 1,478 new cases in the past three days, as well as eight deaths from the virus in that time. There were 92 cases in Interior Health in that time.
Across all other health authorities over the weekend, there were 857 new cases in Fraser Health, 327 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 114 new cases in Northern Health and 88 cases in Island Health.
Within IH, there are now 437 active cases, with 18 people in hospital and five of those people in critical care.
Province-wide, there are 4,464 active cases, 236 people in hospital with the virus and 65 people in ICU.
There was no case growth today at three active healthcare facility outbreaks in Kamloops, which are at Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre (32 cases), Westsyde Care Residences (30 cases) and Highridge Home and Singh House (13 cases). None of those outbreaks have seen any new cases in more than two weeks, since Feb. 13.
Meanwhile, there was also no case growth at The Florentine in Merritt. The long-term care home has seen two residents test positive for the virus; the outbreak was declared on Feb. 18 and there has not been a new case since Feb. 20.
Also, as of today, the province has administered 275,681 COVID-19 vaccine doses, including almost 39,000 doses in Interior Health. Today, B.C. health officials also announced more specific details of the government’s vaccine rollout plan for seniors aged 80 and over, and Indigenous residents aged 65 and older.
