A Kamloops man was arrested in Barriere and a loaded gun was seized over the weekend, after a report of a suspicious vehicle in Kamloops.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says on Friday night at 6 p.m., Mounties were called to Kootenay Way for the suspicious vehicle. Police tried to stop it but it continued heading north up Highway 5.
Evelyn says the vehicle was later seen at a gas station in Barriere, and at that point Barriere RCMP responded and arrested the driver. Police also seized a loaded semi-automatic rifle from the vehicle.
Twenty-two-year-old Cameron Jaykob Deakin-Robertson has been charged with firearm offenses and for possessing stolen property, and for driving while prohibited.
Deakin-Robertson remains in custody with an upcoming court appearance on March 15.
